Kwena Square - Mall Opening
An iconic Grand Opening for Kwena Square, Roodepoort’s newest shopping centre
Kwena Square, which gets its name from the Sesotho word for crocodile (Koena), hosted its official grand opening ceremony on the 29th of June 2022. The day encompasses speeches by the esteemed (COO) Leon Kok as well as the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Mpho Phalatse and 120 honourable guests in attendance with the vibrant Sureshnie Rider as our master of ceremonies.
A standout campaign leading up to the launch was community-driven project where Mall Marketing Management set out to secure local artists to design and manufacture unique benches and dustbins to accentuate the mall’s aesthetics. Local bench designer Siviwe Jali from UMugqa Studio, watched as his brilliant work was revealed to the public for the first time and the crowd enjoyed a pop of excitement as the confetti was shot proudly into the air, a moment that will be engrained into all that attended this momentous celebration.
Prior to the malls opening our marketing efforts were focused to obtaining leasing leads of local and independently owned retail brands through targeted marketing on OOH, DOOH and social media platforms.
Mall Marketing Management proudly represented Redefine Properties in this momentous build up and grand opening, through strategic digital and community marketing campaigns we achieved success in PR support from a magnitude of journalists and loyalty amongst the direct community of Roodepoort. Stationery Drive 2020
Mall Marketing Management and Killarney Mall undertook to collect stationery from December 2019 along sponsors and our community donations in hopes to provide stationery to Thembelenkosini Care Givers in early 2020. We are proud to report that due to the donations we can provide stock for up to one year.
Mall Marketing Management goes for Gold
Northmead Square and Cosmo Mall received Footprint awards at the annual 2020 SACSC Awards. Both malls have been recognized for their marketing initiatives and community efforts in benefiting their direct residents and shoppers. Northmead Square has received a gold Footprint and Cosmo Mall a Silver award.
Black Friday 2020
Still feeling the effects of COVID, we adjusted our marketing strategy to include a through-the-line marketing approach where we focused on in-centre tenant assist as well as leveraged off the online platforms to ensure shoppers could also benefit from great savings from the comforts of their own homes.
Art is Freedom
The Art Is Freedom Expo at Killarney Mall, centrally located within the heart of Houghton, Westcliffe & The Parks. If you're looking for events or something fun and free to do this April, then come and free your inspiration at the Killarney Mall art event from 27 April - 03 May. An art expo infused with over 300 awe-inspiring art pieces from miniature to large, contemporary to traditional, oil , fine and pop art. Live Graffiti demos by Devoted on the 1st May. 10% On all art purchases will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund of sales made from the Benoni Art Association
Secret Sunrise
Secret Sunrise celebrating Mother's Day in partnership with Mugg & Bean and Porter & Craft. Secret Sunrise is a global community that celebrates life, through music, movement, and connection. Described by TimeOut as the 'happiest way to start your day, over 50 000 people have already joined the movement, be it at sunrise or sunset. Skilled and qualified facilitators guide you through a journey that encompasses mindfulness, improvisation, movement, and dance.
Themed Campaign Event
Mall Marketing Management organized the event with an aim to expose all wedding essentials including cakes and decorations. Sin-Gwen Models graced the event as they displayed intricately designed gowns that were as much art as bridal attire. Also on display were dramatic gowns sultry and sheer, panelled dresses as well as suits.
Signature Holiday Events
April was alive with all things festive and Easter themed at Westgate Shopping Centre. Between 12 & 14 April, you could get your dose of chocolates, sweet treats and celebrate Easter in the true African spirit
Daily entertainment was provided to all shoppers at no cost with The Carnival Company parading throughout the mall with their stilt walkers, marching band and street performances for the whole family to enjoy. The Beacon Easter Bunny arrived on the 13th to hand out free Easter eggs to all shoppers in the newly renovated food court whilst they took a selfie at the photobooth with the bunny himself. 30 lucky shoppers would win themselves a movie & snack combo which was sponsored by Nu Metro Westgate.
Driving positive PR
Mall Marketing Management had the goal of putting together 1,000 stationary packs and far surpassed their target. Items such as pens, books and glue were collected at the mall with massive help from sponsor Bostik and the greater community. Pick n Pay and Dis-Chem came on board to provide other needed items such as meals and snacks.
